According to reports from the Associated Press, no specific reason was provided for her termination, which came via memo from Main Justice.
But that didn’t stop James Comey from doing what he does best: turning a straightforward personnel decision into a melodramatic plea for moral superiority. In a video posted to his Substack, Comey launched into a lengthy monologue about “reservoirs of trust” and the “sacred duty” of Justice Department employees, painting his daughter as a martyr and implying President Trump was behind it all.
Comey read aloud Maurene’s farewell message to her colleagues, which was less a goodbye and more a not-so-subtle political indictment.
