The clip, shared on TikTok, captures panicked onlookers shouting, waving, and pointing in desperate attempts to guide the boy to safety. Some can be heard pleading, “Go to him now!” while others debated whether he should stop or keep moving. The tense standoff ended when a man positioned on a nearby building’s roof bent down and pulled the child into his arms. The crowd erupted into cheers and applause as relief washed over the scene. According to a statement from Hersheypark, the boy was quickly reunited with his parents after the frightening ordeal.

The park has not released details on how the child managed to access the monorail track, which is normally used only for the elevated ride. Many are now questioning whether park security measures are sufficient to prevent such incidents in the future. Parents on social media stressed that while accidents can happen, tighter safety protocols are needed to ensure kids cannot wander into such dangerous areas.
The close call comes just weeks after a separate tragedy at Hersheypark that claimed the life of nine-year-old Sophia Subedi. On July 24, Sophia drowned in the Boardwalk’s massive 387,000-gallon wave pool despite more than 100 lifeguards being on duty. Dauphin County’s coroner ruled her death an accident, with the cause listed as fresh water drowning.
Park officials said lifeguards and medics responded immediately when Sophia was spotted in distress, performing CPR and other life-saving measures. She was transported to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center but sadly did not survive. It was the first confirmed guest fatality in the park’s 118-year history.
Two serious incidents within a single month have raised concerns among families about Hersheypark’s safety standards. While the boy on the monorail was saved in the nick of time, and Sophia’s drowning was ruled accidental, both serve as sobering reminders of how quickly leisure can turn into life-or-death situations. Amusement parks promise fun, but vigilance and safety must always come first.
