Democrat Revolt Erupts as Dozens Turn on Hakeem Jeffries

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is learning the hard way that pandering to the far-left doesn’t guarantee loyalty, or even respect, from the progressive base. Despite bending over backward to placate the Squad, championing identity politics, and sticking like glue to the anti-Trump script, Jeffries is now facing open revolt from within his own party. And with the 2026 elections looming, a growing number of Democrats are quietly signaling they’ve had enough of his bland, MSNBC-approved leadership.

According to a recent Axios survey of 113 Democratic House candidates, the results were less than flattering for the Bronx congressman. Only 24 said they’re fully on board with supporting Jeffries as Speaker if Democrats take back the House. Another seven were “likely” to support him, which is the political equivalent of a shrug. The rest? Not so warm and fuzzy.

Twenty candidates flat-out said they would vote against him. Another five said they were leaning that way. And here’s the kicker: a whopping 57 refused to commit, citing either ideological differences or disappointment with his messaging, strategy, and ability to lead a party that’s split between moderates who want to pretend it’s still 2008 and leftists who think AOC should already be president.

Speaking of AOC, she’s making her own waves by reportedly preparing to primary Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. That’s how dysfunctional the New York Democrat machine is right now, the two most powerful Democrats from the Empire State are both facing heat from their own party, and the Squad smells blood in the water.

Even candidates who are expected to win in deep blue districts are turning their backs on Jeffries. From Daniel Biss and Kat Abughazaleh in Illinois to Saikat Chakrabarti, Patrick Roath, and Luke Bronin in other states, these progressive firebrands are either refusing to endorse Jeffries or openly backing someone else. And then you’ve got quotes like this from New Hampshire candidate Heath Howard: “I think we need to have a new type of leadership that’s… going to fight back significantly harder against the Trump administration.”

Even Jeffries’s refusal to endorse socialist darling Zohran Mamdani for New York mayor has sparked backlash from far-left candidates who now wonder whether Jeffries and the DCCC would support them if they win their primaries.

The Democrats are eating their own again. Jeffries tried to appease the radicals, and now they’re sharpening the knives anyway. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
