Former ‘Squad’ Member’s Husband Charged with Wire Fraud Over Pandemic Loan Scam!

Well, well, well — another day, another Democrat scandal. This time it’s Cortney Merritts, husband of former Missouri Congresswoman and Squad member Cori Bush, who just found himself under federal indictment for wire fraud related to—you guessed it—the COVID Paycheck Protection Program. That’s right, while millions of Americans were struggling to keep their businesses alive during pandemic lockdowns, Merritts allegedly decided to cash in on the crisis with a couple of creative fiction projects disguised as loan applications.

According to the Justice Department, Merritts cooked up not one, but two fraudulent applications for government handouts. The feds say he claimed to run a business called Vetted Couriers, saying it had six employees and made $32,000 in gross revenue before the pandemic. Sounds impressive, until you realize Merritts apparently just made it up. The very next day, he filed another application under the name “Courtney Merritts” (yes, with a C, we’re not sure if that was a typo or another alias), claiming this second mystery business had ten employees and made $53,000 in revenue.

If you’re keeping score, that’s two different companies, two different revenue claims, and sixteen phantom employees — all from the same guy, in less than 48 hours. You almost have to admire the speed. The Small Business Administration, thankfully, saw through the scam and rejected the second application for being, in their words, “nearly identical” to the first. But not before Merritts managed to pocket $8,500 from the initial loan.

Of course, this little side hustle now has Merritts facing two felony counts of wire fraud — a crime that carries serious prison time. And let’s not forget, this isn’t the only cloud hanging over the Bush household. Cori Bush is also under investigation by the Federal Election Commission after it came out that she paid her husband over $62,000 in campaign funds for “security services.” Not bad for a guy who, by all accounts, didn’t even have a private security license for most of that time.

Now remember, Cori Bush was one of the loudest voices screaming “defund the police” while simultaneously spending campaign money on personal protection. It’s almost like these leftist elites want the rest of us defenseless while they hire bodyguards and collect pandemic freebies under fake names.

Bottom line: while Cori Bush was lecturing Americans about “equity” and “justice,” her husband was allegedly siphoning taxpayer dollars and playing shell games with the SBA. Just another chapter in the never-ending saga of progressive hypocrisy.
