Hillary Clinton emerged from a closed door deposition before the House Oversight Committee on Thursday and was immediately confronted with a question that has lingered for years.
“Why was Ghislaine Maxwell at Chelsea’s wedding?” a reporter asked as the former secretary of state wrapped up her brief remarks.
Clinton did not dodge it. “She came as plus one with a guest who was invited,” she said, before ending the press availability.
Jeffrey Epstein was first convicted in 2008.

Are we meant to believe that the Clinton's were not background checking every guest?

Maxwell, now a convicted s*x trafficker and longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein, attended Chelsea Clinton’s July 31, 2010 wedding in Rhinebeck, New York. Photos that surfaced years later fueled public scrutiny, especially as more details about Epstein’s crimes came to light.
Clinton’s explanation has remained consistent. She has said Maxwell was not directly invited but attended as the guest of Ted Waitt, a technology entrepreneur and donor to the Clinton Foundation who was reportedly in a relationship with Maxwell at the time. The wedding was a large private event with hundreds of guests from political, philanthropic, and business circles.
“I only knew Maxwell as an acquaintance,” Clinton said, reiterating that she had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal conduct.
The issue does not end there. According to a New York Post report, Maxwell and Epstein also attended the 2002 royal wedding of Moroccan King Mohammed VI, where former President Bill Clinton was present. An exclusive photo published by the outlet shows Clinton posing with Epstein, Maxwell, and Chelsea. Sources cited in the report claimed Clinton pushed for their inclusion at the royal event, raising further questions about the depth of the relationship.
So in 2002, Chelsea Clinton attended King Mohammed VI’s wedding in Morocco with her father Bill Clinton, along with Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein.
But we’re supposed to believe Hillary Clinton never met Epstein.

During Thursday’s deposition, which lasted more than six hours at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center, Clinton repeatedly denied any involvement or awareness of Epstein’s activities. “I never met Jeffrey Epstein, never had any connection or communication with him,” she said. “I do not recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island, homes or offices.”
She also criticized the Oversight Committee’s process, suggesting it was politically motivated and insinuating that President Trump was somehow implicated, though she did not offer evidence to support that claim.
The deposition was briefly paused after Representative Lauren Boebert reportedly leaked a photo from inside the room, but questioning resumed and continued through the afternoon.
Bill Clinton also testified in a similar closed door session. With both former first couple members now under oath, the committee’s investigation continues to focus on untangling the web of associations surrounding Epstein and Maxwell.
For many Americans, the central demand remains straightforward. Full transparency and equal accountability, no matter how prominent the names involved.
