The Department of Justice has launched a high-stakes investigation into whether the FBI, under Joe Biden’s presidency, secretly destroyed sensitive documents to shield former intelligence chiefs James Comey and John Brennan. The bombshell probe, revealed in a leak to The New York Times, is already stirring fierce debate in Washington.
Comey, who led the FBI from 2013 until his firing by President Trump in May 2017, and Brennan, who served as CIA director from 2013 to 2017, have long been accused by conservatives of fueling the “Russia hoax” that dogged Trump’s first term. Now, the DOJ is digging into whether FBI officials intentionally hid or destroyed records that could have exposed their alleged misconduct.
The investigation gained momentum after reports that Kash Patel, the new FBI director, uncovered thousands of Russia collusion documents stashed inside “burn bags” in a secret room at FBI headquarters. Last month, Fox News reported that Patel’s team also discovered a previously undisclosed SCIF, or secure compartmented information facility, that had been used to store classified materials away from public and congressional oversight.
Among the most explosive finds was a classified annex to Special Counsel John Durham’s final report, which contained the raw intelligence Durham reviewed during his probe of the Russia investigation. Former CIA Director John Ratcliffe recently declassified the annex and passed it to Senator Chuck Grassley, who made it public. Its release has reignited scrutiny of how the Russia collusion narrative took hold despite mounting evidence it lacked credibility.
According to The New York Times, investigators are now zeroing in on senior FBI officials who ran the bureau’s headquarters during Biden’s tenure. That includes former Deputy Director Paul Abbate, who resigned on January 20 when Trump returned to the White House. Other unnamed officials are also under scrutiny for their possible role in concealing or destroying records tied to the Russia probe.
The Times characterized the investigation as pursuing “a theory promoted by Trump loyalists.” Still, the existence of burn bags filled with classified files hidden inside FBI facilities has only strengthened suspicions among Trump’s allies that key figures inside the intelligence community tried to bury the truth.
Under Patel’s leadership, the FBI has already moved to purge employees viewed as disloyal or involved in past investigations targeting Trump. His deputy, Dan Bongino, has echoed Patel’s vow to fully expose corruption within the bureau.
The unfolding DOJ probe could represent one of the most consequential reckonings yet for the FBI and intelligence officials tied to the Russia collusion saga, with potentially seismic implications for Washington’s credibility.
It takes a shadow core of people to conceal all those things. Trump and his team should investigate “3000 members of the Obama Administration.” Back in 2020, the MSM did not report the full text of an AP article. On 16 May 2020, the AP reported Barack blasted Trump’s handling of the pandemic in an online graduation speech. They stopped with that. A couple sentences later, they stated Barack also made the remarks during a “conference call with 3000 members of his administration.”
So, Obama left the WH in Jan 2017, but in May 2020, was still conducting conference calls with 3000 people who identified as part of his administration. I can only imagine the conference calls in Biden’s time encouraged them to cover for Joe. The calls are probably continuing. That scale of a conference call takes planning and coordination. Hundreds of people across the country either participated, or looked the other way. Phone logs would show who participated, as they probably used their office land lines, or personal cell phones.
It is safe to presume that most of the 3000 people were probably still in the Federal government. They are proud of “resisting” Trump and believe they are “saving democracy.”
