Minneapolis once again reminded the country what happens when political leadership spends years undermining law enforcement and coddling extremists. On Friday night, Minneapolis police officers, including Chief Brian O’Hara, were attacked by violent anti-ICE rioters and forced to retreat from a downtown area, effectively surrendering the streets to leftist anarchists who now believe they run the city.
Video footage circulating online shows officers abandoning their positions as an aggressive mob advances, shouting demands and chasing police vehicles out of the area. This was not crowd control. This was not strategic repositioning. This was a full-on retreat, and it happened in one of America’s major cities while local leadership apparently watched from the sidelines.

The chaos follows days of escalating unrest after the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a radical anti-ICE activist who nearly ran down a federal agent with her vehicle during an enforcement operation. That critical detail has been ignored by activists and media allies who have instead turned Good into a martyr and used her death as an excuse to unleash mayhem on the city.
Independent journalist Nick Sortor, who has been on the ground documenting the violence, captured video of police pulling out as rioters surged forward. In one clip, Sortor can be heard asking, “Hey chief, why are you letting your city get like this?” He did not get an answer. The officers were too busy fleeing an angry mob that clearly felt emboldened.
Sortor later summed it up bluntly, writing that Minneapolis police had surrendered to anti-ICE rioters and abandoned an area that was immediately taken over by leftist anarchists. He also called on President Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act, noting that local police had ceded control to extremists who have no interest in law, order, or public safety.

The situation only worsened as rioters began storming hotels they believed were housing ICE agents. Video shows protesters forcing their way inside and damaging property while law enforcement stood by. Jack Posobiec, also on the scene, reported that Antifa-aligned agitators breached hotel doors and began destroying the lobby without resistance.
This is what happens when politicians demonize federal immigration enforcement, trash police morale, and pretend violent activists are just passionate community members. Minneapolis has seen this movie before. In 2020, the city burned while leaders hesitated and excused lawlessness. Apparently, nothing was learned.
Residents of Minneapolis deserve better than to watch their streets handed over to mobs waving anti-ICE signs and screaming slogans. They deserve a city where police are allowed to enforce the law instead of being chased out of neighborhoods by radicals who know there will be no consequences.
This is not protest. This is not justice. This is a breakdown of authority, and it is happening because the people in charge refuse to choose order over appeasement.
