Red State’s Ruthless Redistricting Leaves Democrats with Only One House Seat

Missouri Republicans just dropped a political sledgehammer on the Democrats, and it’s about time. In a move that’s already giving MSNBC a collective panic attack, the Missouri House passed a redistricting map that could leave Democrats clinging to just one seat in the entire state’s congressional delegation. The vote? 90 to 65. Translation: the GOP means business, and the whining from the left has already started.

This “Missouri First” map is exactly what it sounds like — a bold, unapologetic reshaping of the state’s political landscape. The biggest casualty? The Democrat-controlled 5th District, which includes Kansas City and has long been the personal fiefdom of Rep. Emanuel Cleaver. Under the new plan, that district gets split into pieces and scattered across neighboring rural areas that vote deep red. Republicans are poised to go from holding six seats to seven out of eight. Not a bad way to prep for 2026.

Naturally, the media and Democrats are howling about “gerrymandering,” but let’s not kid ourselves. This is politics. Democrats have been redrawing maps in blue states for years, carving up districts like they’re slicing birthday cake. Now that Republicans are taking a page from that playbook, suddenly it’s a crisis for democracy. Spare us.

Gov. Mike Kehoe called the legislature back into session after weeks of pressure from President Trump, who made it clear that red states need to stop playing nice and start playing smart. Trump’s influence is still a political freight train, and Missouri’s GOP got the message loud and clear. He even took to Truth Social to praise the move, calling the new map “much fairer and improved” and reminding everyone that he’s carried Missouri every time his name’s been on the ballot. He’s right. Missouri voters are solidly behind him and the America First agenda, and now they’ll have the representation to match.

But the Missouri House didn’t stop there. They also passed a proposal to reform the state’s citizen initiative petition process. Right now, you can slap a constitutional amendment on the ballot with a simple majority. Under the new plan, you’d need a majority statewide and in all eight congressional districts. That means a few blue cities won’t be able to hijack the state’s constitution with left-wing ballot measures. It also bans foreign money in initiative campaigns, which should be common sense — but apparently isn’t for Democrats.

Now it’s up to the Missouri Senate to seal the deal. The map is drawn, the message is clear, and the left’s grip on Missouri is crumbling. Good.

  • Good for Missouri, they are finally fighting for what is right. I wish the rest of red states would do the same. Arizona is crippled by our Demonrat governor Katie Hobbs. I am so sick and tired of the Looney left I could scream bloody murder. That sounds like a good idea.
