Top White House Official Diagnosed with Cancer

President Trump announced Monday that White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, but emphasized that she plans to continue working while undergoing treatment.

The president shared the news in a message posted on Truth Social, praising Wiles for her determination and describing her prognosis as very positive.

“Susie Wiles is an incredible Chief of Staff, a great person, and one of the strongest people I know but, unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer,” President Trump wrote.

According to the president, Wiles chose to begin treatment immediately after receiving the diagnosis. Despite the health challenge, she intends to remain actively involved in her responsibilities at the White House throughout the process.

“She has a fantastic medical team, and her prognosis is excellent!” President Trump added.

The president also said Wiles plans to spend most of her time continuing her work during treatment.

“During the treatment period, she will be spending virtually full time at the White House, which makes me, as President, very happy!” he wrote.

Wiles currently serves as White House Chief of Staff, a position she assumed on January 20, 2025. Her appointment made history, as she became the first woman ever to hold the powerful role in the federal government.

Inside the administration, Wiles is widely regarded as one of the most influential advisors to President Trump. Known for her disciplined management style and deep political experience, she has played a central role in organizing operations inside the White House and guiding the president’s political strategy.

President Trump emphasized her dedication to public service even while facing a personal health challenge.

“Her Strength and her Commitment to continue doing the job she loves, and does so well, while undergoing treatment, tells you everything you need to know about her,” he wrote.

“Susie, as one of my closest and most important advisors, is tough and deeply committed to serving the American People. She will soon be better than ever! Melania and I are with her in every way.”

Wiles has built a long career in Republican politics and political consulting. She first entered national politics during Ronald Reagan’s 1980 presidential campaign, gaining early experience that would eventually lead to decades of work in major political races.

Over the years, she developed a reputation as one of the most effective political strategists in the country. In Florida politics, Wiles played key roles in major campaigns, including Rick Scott’s successful 2010 gubernatorial race and Ron DeSantis’ 2018 victory in the state’s governor’s race.

Her national profile grew significantly during President Trump’s 2024 campaign. Wiles helped guide the campaign’s strategy, messaging, and day to day operations as Trump successfully returned to the White House.

Doctors say early stage breast cancer is often highly treatable when caught quickly. Survival rates for early stage cases frequently exceed 90 percent depending on the specific diagnosis and treatment plan.

For now, the president made clear that Wiles plans to remain a central figure in the administration while focusing on treatment and recovery, continuing the work she has become known for throughout her long career in Republican politics.
