Well, President Trump is back to doing what he does best — speaking plain English, putting America first, and keeping the bad guys in check, whether the leftist media likes it or not. During Wednesday’s NATO summit in the Netherlands, President Trump didn’t mince words when asked if the U.S. would strike Iran again should they try to rebuild their nuclear program. His response? “Sure.” Short, sweet, and exactly the kind of leadership this country needs.
This comes on the heels of the United States, with a little help from our allies over in Israel, successfully striking three of Iran’s nuclear facilities. According to Israeli intelligence, those strikes didn’t just cause a minor inconvenience; they reportedly set Iran’s nuclear ambitions back “many years.” Of course, this is driving the D.C. foreign policy elite nuts, but they’re the same crowd that thought pallets of cash to Iran was a solid idea under Obama. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
What makes this even more entertaining is watching how NATO leaders, who used to practically trip over themselves to criticize Trump, are now singing his praises. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, not exactly known for throwing compliments around, called Trump a “man of strength” and a “man of peace.” You’ve got to love the irony. Trump flexes U.S. military power, hits Iran where it hurts, brings Israel and Iran to a ceasefire, and now he’s being recognized as a peacemaker. Funny how that works when leadership is actually effective.
But Trump didn’t stop there. Rutte also applauded Trump for doing what no other president in recent history managed to accomplish: getting NATO countries to step up their defense spending. Every member nation except Spain agreed to cough up 5% of their GDP for defense. Let that sink in. The same NATO alliance that cried “doom and gloom” when Trump demanded they pay their fair share is now suddenly in line. Classic Trump — tough talk, real results.
Naturally, some of the NATO leaders expressed concern over the U.S. strikes on Iran, calling for “de-escalation.” But even they had to admit, a nuclear-armed Iran is a nightmare nobody wants.
Bottom line, President Trump sent a clear message: America’s enemies don’t get a free pass, and the United States will act decisively to protect our interests. That’s real leadership.
