President Trump is turning up the heat on former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, calling for the Department of Justice to consider criminal charges over what he described as a “deliberate act of national sabotage” tied to the ongoing illegal immigration crisis.
Trump made the explosive remarks Tuesday while visiting Florida’s newest migrant detention facility, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” located deep within the Everglades. The high-security site, surrounded by swampland and wildlife, has been heralded as a symbol of Trump’s renewed crackdown on border security.
During the visit, Trump was asked point-blank why no one from the Biden-era Department of Homeland Security has faced legal consequences.
“Why hasn’t he been arrested yet?” a supporter shouted, referring to Mayorkas.
“Well, you know, pardons were handed out like candy to people who didn’t deserve them,” Trump responded, pointing to what he described as politically motivated protections given to Biden allies. “If he wasn’t given a pardon, I could see looking at that.”
Mayorkas, who served as Homeland Security chief under President Biden, was impeached by the House in early 2024 for “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law” regarding immigration enforcement. The Democrat-controlled Senate later dismissed the charges, fueling outrage among conservatives.
Despite the acquittal, Trump made clear that Mayorkas isn’t off the hook in his eyes.
“He followed orders, sure, but that doesn’t make him innocent,” Trump said. “You have to be willing to say ‘no’ when the orders destroy the country.”

Under Mayorkas’ watch, U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded over 10 million encounters with removable noncitizens, including more than 1.5 million known “gotaways.” Fiscal Year 2022 alone shattered records with 2.2 million illegal crossings.
Much of the crisis has been blamed on the Biden administration’s decision to dismantle successful Trump-era policies, including the “Remain in Mexico” program, which required asylum-seekers to stay south of the border while awaiting hearings. The Biden team’s rushed rollback of the policy sparked a wave of illegal crossings.
For Trump, the construction of “Alligator Alcatraz” marks a new era of border enforcement—and possibly a new chapter in holding past officials accountable. As legal experts debate the feasibility of prosecuting Mayorkas, one thing is clear: Trump is ready to make immigration a centerpiece of his comeback—and someone will be held responsible.
Mayorkas should die in prison for what he did to this country. He knew exactly what he was doing everyday he lied to the American people. He and Harris are traitors to this country and should be held accountable nor their corruption. Harris was the worse VP to ever serve as VP in America history and she should pay he ultimate punishment ever. Traitor.
