Bret Baier learned the hard way that Washington, D.C. isn’t playing around anymore when it comes to law and order. The longtime Fox News anchor got pulled over in Georgetown for using his phone while driving — yes, even the media elites aren’t above the law now that President Trump has put the hammer down on the District’s out-of-control crime problem.

Baier took it like a champ, posting on X about the incident: “I picked up my ringing phone as I drove past an officer while driving my wife’s car in Georgetown. He pointed to have me pull over – I did. He was very professional. I had to dig for the registration card. Got a ticket and left. I didn’t know there was paparazzi.”
Well, welcome to the new D.C., where even texting drivers in luxury sedans don’t get a pass. That’s what happens when you bring actual accountability back to the nation’s capital.
Let’s not forget why all of this is happening. Earlier this month, President Trump invoked Section 740 of the D.C. Home Rule Act — something no president has ever done before — and took control of the Metropolitan Police Department. Cue the liberal outrage machine. But guess what? It’s working. Crime has been spiraling for years, especially under the mismanagement of woke D.C. officials who are more concerned with defunding the police than protecting their citizens. Trump saw the disaster and said, “Enough.”
Since the federal takeover, over 200 arrests have been made — and no, they’re not about immigration, as the Left would love to claim. We’re talking about violent criminals, gang members, illegal weapons, and busts in crime-ridden areas like Wards 7 and 8. Homeless encampments are being cleared out, and the streets are finally being taken back by law-abiding citizens. It’s called public safety — maybe you’ve heard of it.
And this isn’t just a D.C. thing. Conservatives in six states have followed Trump’s lead and deployed over 1,100 National Guard troops to support the effort. It’s not a military occupation, it’s leadership — something the city has been sorely lacking.
Of course, liberals are panicking and waving the Constitution like they just read it for the first time. But President Trump didn’t break any laws. Section 740 is right there in the books. If they want to cry about the 30-day limit, they can take it up with Congress. Meanwhile, regular Americans are finally seeing results.
Law and order isn’t a slogan. It’s a duty. And President Trump is getting it done.
