WATCH: Trump Revives Stunning Idea to Eliminate Income Tax, Here’s How He’d Do It!

President Trump has been hinting for months at a massive shift in U.S. tax policy, and now he is saying it plainly: federal income tax may be on its way out. That’s right, the very system Americans have been shackled with since 1913 could be replaced with tariffs and possibly a national sales tax.

In a recent exchange, Trump reminded listeners that America once thrived without an income tax. From the mid-1800s until the 16th Amendment in 1913, the federal government was almost entirely funded by tariffs and excise taxes on items like alcohol and tobacco. Those years were some of the most prosperous in U.S. history. In fact, Trump noted that by the late 1880s the United States had so much revenue from tariffs that lawmakers debated how to distribute the surplus. Compare that to today, where every April the American worker gets squeezed while Washington spends like there is no tomorrow.

Trump’s logic is simple. If tariffs made America rich once, why can’t they again? He pointed out that tariffs not only generate revenue but also protect domestic industry, making them a double win for the American people. Critics like to claim tariffs worsened the Great Depression, but Trump set the record straight. Tariffs were rolled back in 1913, the same year the income tax was introduced, and the Depression didn’t arrive until 1929. The coincidence is not lost on him or his supporters.

The idea of replacing income tax with a flat national sales tax has gained traction among conservatives for years. The benefit is obvious. Essentials like food, rent, and medicine could be exempt, while luxury items would bear the tax burden. That way, people get taxed based on what they choose to spend, not on their productivity. It is transparent, fair, and eliminates the IRS’s invasive grasp into the lives of hardworking Americans.

History backs this up. Before 1913, tariffs provided the federal government with the bulk of its revenue, keeping Washington limited and closer to its constitutional role. The 16th Amendment changed everything by giving Congress the power to directly tax income. Since then, the federal government has ballooned, debt has skyrocketed, and the tax code has become a weapon of social engineering rather than a straightforward revenue tool.

Trump’s proposal would be revolutionary. Imagine no more IRS audits, no more paycheck confiscations, and no more April 15 dread. Instead, a transparent system where revenue comes from tariffs and a simple sales tax. If Trump gets his way, we could be looking at the biggest pro-American tax reform in modern history.

  • Dems and the MSM are terrified of acknowledging that Trump’s tariffs have already brought in billions of dollars. They dig up “experts” who claim that tariffs have destroyed the US economy and have plunged the world economy into unrecoverable chaos. Oh and don’t forget claims that tariffs have supposedly resulted in America losing hundreds of millions of jobs!
They rely on low info people to fall for it. In Trump’s first term Dems and the MSM screamed that the tax cuts only benefited millionaires. The MSM showed middle class idiots complaining that they didn’t get a tax cut, because their IRS refund was lower than the year before.
Well, duh! If your tax rate is lower, the amount withheld is lower, and the refund will be lower!
