Democrat leaders in Minnesota are bracing for more chaos in the streets—not because of another police shooting, but because of a potential pardon by President Donald Trump. You read that right. Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt have reportedly all been briefed on plans to respond to potential riots if Trump grants a presidential pardon to former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
As you know, Derek Chauvin became a lightning rod in American politics after the death of George Floyd in 2020, which sparked a summer of nationwide rioting, looting, arson, and general lawlessness under the banner of “justice.” Four years later, it seems the left is still clinging to the flames of that chaos, preparing for round two if Trump dares to challenge their sacred narrative.
According to local outlet KSTP-TV, “Multiple sources told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that Gov. Tim Walz, the Minnesota National Guard, Mayor Jacob Frey and Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt have all been briefed on preparations for possible civil unrest” if Chauvin is pardoned for his federal civil rights conviction. That’s right—riots are apparently back on the menu, and Democrats are already war-gaming the response.
The report also claims that the Minnesota Department of Corrections is ready to transport Chauvin from his current federal prison in Arizona back to Oak Park Heights in Minnesota, should he need to resume his sentence there. So, let’s get this straight: they’re prepped for a transfer, prepping for riots, and panicking over a hypothetical pardon that hasn’t even been suggested by President Trump publicly.
Meanwhile, Antifa’s favorite Attorney General Keith Ellison went on MSNBC and confidently declared, “He’s not getting out.” He added that Chauvin still owes 22 and a half years to Minnesota. Funny, that’s not how presidential pardons work—but it’s nice to know Ellison is as legally sound as he was during the 2020 riots, which he did nothing to stop.
For the record, Chauvin is serving both federal and state sentences. He was nearly killed in prison last year, stabbed 22 times by another inmate. That little detail doesn’t seem to bother the “criminal justice reform” crowd much.
President Trump hasn’t even hinted at a pardon. But the fact that Democrats are losing their minds over the possibility tells you all you need to know. They don’t want justice — they want vengeance. And they’re terrified Trump might remind America what law and order actually looks like.
