During a recent appearance on The Weeknight, Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal let the mask slip while discussing the Department of Justice’s indictment of disgraced former FBI Director James Comey. Blumenthal, who sits as ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, blasted President Trump’s DOJ for prosecuting Comey, calling it a “dark, sad, scary day for America.” But in doing so, he essentially confirmed what conservatives have been saying for years: Democrats believe the “rule of law” only applies when it benefits their side.
Blumenthal accused Trump of “perverting the rule of law” by holding Comey accountable for lying to Congress and obstructing a congressional investigation. Yet when Biden’s DOJ unleashed a barrage of indictments, raids, and courtroom stunts to drag President Trump through endless lawfare, Blumenthal was cheering from the sidelines. Back then, he claimed it was about “protecting democracy.” Now that one of his own political allies is in the crosshairs, suddenly the justice system is under assault.
With a straight face, Blumenthal even suggested Comey might have a defense because Trump publicly called for accountability. He warned that Democrats might one day “turn the tables” and target conservative figures, telling viewers: “What goes around comes around. Today it’s Comey; tomorrow, it could be you.” That’s not just a warning, it’s a threat.
Blumenthal is TRIGGERED that Comey got indicted.
He's even got the gall to say "what goes around comes around."
When does this crook get arrested for what he's done? Obviously his visceral reaction implies that he's nervous because he is likely going to get swept up in this too pic.twitter.com/cGMTPpK9jP

This is the same Richard Blumenthal who had no problem when Biden’s DOJ tried to put Trump in prison for the rest of his life. He had no objection when pro-life activists were targeted for praying outside abortion clinics or when parents were labeled domestic terrorists for speaking up at school board meetings. But when Comey, a man who abused his position at the FBI to fuel the Russia collusion hoax, finally gets indicted, Blumenthal cries that America is descending into tyranny.
The hypocrisy couldn’t be clearer. When the DOJ is weaponized against conservatives, Democrats call it “justice.” When the DOJ investigates one of their own, suddenly it’s “scary” and “perverted.” And Blumenthal’s parting shot—that Democrats could retaliate by prosecuting Republicans they dislike—is the quiet part said out loud.
For years, conservatives warned that Democrats were normalizing lawfare. Now, as Trump’s DOJ begins restoring equal justice under the law, Democrats are panicking. What Blumenthal calls “perverting the rule of law” is actually the first time in years the rule of law is being applied to Democrats who thought they were untouchable.
