Kamala Harris to Receive Protection from New Source After Losing Secret Service

Kamala Harris is about to hit the road again, but this time it isn’t for a campaign. According to the Los Angeles Times, the former vice president will receive protection from the California Highway Patrol after President Trump revoked her extended Secret Service detail. The move comes just as Harris prepares for a 15-stop international book tour to promote her memoir, “107 Days,” a behind-the-scenes account of her short-lived and disastrous 2024 presidential campaign.

Normally, former vice presidents get Secret Service protection for six months after leaving office. But in one of his last acts as president, Joe Biden quietly signed an order extending Harris’ security through July 2026. That arrangement is now null and void. Trump signed a memorandum Thursday cutting off Harris’ federal protection as of Monday, with her security needs now falling to California taxpayers.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom reportedly worked behind the scenes to secure CHP protection, though Newsom’s office refused to confirm details, citing “security reasons.” Bass, however, couldn’t resist turning it into a political attack, calling Trump’s decision “another act of revenge” and accusing him of “putting the former Vice President in danger.”

Harris’ allies might be fuming, but critics aren’t exactly sympathetic. The timing of this security shuffle coincides with the rollout of her book tour, which will take her from Los Angeles and New York to Miami, Toronto, and even London. On social media, the announcement of the memoir was greeted with laughter rather than admiration. “Never seen someone celebrating an L like that lol,” one user joked. Another dubbed it “the loser tour,” while yet another quipped, “How to blow $2.5B in 107 days.”

The title of Harris’ book—“107 Days”—pretty much sums up her political career since leaving the Senate. After burning through billions in donor cash, her campaign collapsed in record time under the weight of her own unpopularity, incoherent messaging, and constant gaffes. Now, instead of holding rallies in battleground states, she’ll be signing books in liberal enclaves while surrounded by CHP officers.

For California Democrats, this is about saving face. For Trump, it’s about restoring precedent. And for the American people, it’s a reminder that Harris isn’t riding a wave of momentum—she’s on a taxpayer-subsidized “loser tour,” trying to spin her greatest political failure into a book deal.
