Trump Demands Ilhan Omar Be Jailed or Kicked Out of the Country

President Trump lit up Truth Social late Sunday night with a blistering attack on Ilhan Omar, tying the Minnesota Democrat to massive fraud allegations and the ongoing unrest surrounding immigration enforcement in her state. The post was vintage Trump, blunt, unapologetic, and guaranteed to send the media into a meltdown.

“There is 19 Billion Dollars in Minnesota Somalia Fraud,” President Trump wrote, accusing Omar of knowing “everything there is to know” about the alleged scheme. He went further, saying she should be jailed or sent back to Somalia, sarcastically adding that she could help “MAKE SOMALIA GREAT AGAIN.” The comment immediately ignited outrage on the left, but it also zeroed in on a question many Minnesotans have been asking for years, why does no one ever seem accountable when massive fraud happens in communities tied to powerful political figures?

Omar, who has served in Congress since 2019 and became a U.S. citizen in 2000 after being born in Somalia, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing related to fraud allegations. Still, the timing of Trump’s comments is not accidental. Federal immigration operations are underway in Minnesota, and anti ICE protests have erupted across the Twin Cities, some of them turning violent. President Trump made it clear he sees a connection.

“ICE is removing some of the most violent criminals in the World from our Country,” Trump wrote, questioning why Minnesota leaders appear to be fighting those efforts. He pointed to what he described as professional agitators and anarchists fueling the protests, asking whether Minnesotans really want murderers and drug dealers protected in their communities.

Trump then broadened his criticism to include Governor Tim Walz and other state leaders, accusing them of using chaos and outrage to distract from what he called $18 billion plus in fraud. Whether the final number is $18 billion or $19 billion, the accusation is the same, that something enormous happened, and powerful people do not want scrutiny.

The controversy comes as Omar is already facing backlash for her own rhetoric. She recently referred to the country as the “U.S. God—- States,” a remark that drew condemnation even beyond Republican circles. Senator Mike Lee responded by saying no member of Congress should ever speak about the country that way and asked what consequences should follow.

Business leader Elon Musk jumped into the debate with a sharp reply, saying, “Whatever the penalty is for treason.”

The media will focus on Trump’s tone, as it always does. What it will try to ignore is the substance. Billions of dollars in alleged fraud, violent protests against federal law enforcement, and elected officials who seem more offended by enforcement than by crime itself. President Trump is forcing that conversation into the open, whether Washington likes it or not.
