So much for “peaceful oversight.” What started as a Democrat photo op at the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility in Newark quickly turned into a full-blown circus on Friday—and not the kind with popcorn. Leading the chaos? Democrat Rep. LaMonica McIver, who was caught on video physically attacking federal ICE agents. Yes, that actually happened. A sitting member of Congress put hands on law enforcement officers doing their job. Imagine the headlines if the parties were reversed.
McIver wasn’t alone. The “inspection” team included Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and other Democrat members of Congress who clearly didn’t come to observe—they came to stage a scene. ICE, for their part, was doing what they’re mandated to do: detain illegal aliens and process them through the legal immigration system. But apparently, enforcing immigration law is now considered a crime by the activist Left.
This facility, Delaney Hall, just opened under President Trump’s watch as part of a broader crackdown on illegal immigration. Acting ICE Director Caleb Vitello made it clear in February: the facility’s location near an international airport streamlines deportations and reinforces Trump’s commitment to restoring law and order at the border—and in our communities.
Of course, Democrats couldn’t let that stand. Instead of addressing the lawlessness on the border, they tried creating some of their own. Video shows Rep. McIver—in her bright red jacket—shouting, pushing, and laying hands on ICE agents in the middle of the scuffle. This wasn’t passionate advocacy; this was an outright assault on federal officers.

Meanwhile, Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested on the spot for criminal trespass after refusing to leave the facility. Homeland Security had warned him multiple times to back off. He didn’t. So he got a pair of shiny bracelets and a ride in the back of a cruiser. Alina Habba, the interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, was crystal clear: “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.”
But someone might want to pass that memo along to Rep. McIver, who seems to think rules are optional when you’re fighting “racist borders” or whatever the new slogan is. Funny how the party that screams about “insurrection” thinks it’s okay to throw punches at ICE agents when they don’t like federal policy.
Here’s a radical idea: if Democrats don’t want law enforcement doing its job, maybe they should try changing the law—not storming facilities like it’s some kind of woke Woodstock.
Lock them all up!!!!
