The government UFO conversation has officially entered territory that would have gotten someone laughed out of a diner booth twenty years ago. Now the people making these claims are former Pentagon insiders, intelligence officials, and physicists with decades of government connections. Whether Americans believe them or not is another question entirely, but the claims themselves are becoming harder to ignore.
Dr. Hal Puthoff, an 89-year-old physicist with deep ties to both the CIA and Pentagon research programs, dropped the latest bombshell during an appearance on “The Diary of a CEO” podcast. According to Puthoff, individuals involved in alleged UFO crash retrieval programs have told him the U.S. government recovered bodies from at least four different extraterrestrial species.
“People who have been involved in recoveries have said there are at least four types. Four separate types,” Puthoff said during the interview. “Now I have not had direct access to that, but I believe the people whom I talked to — four separate types of life.”

I suspect he is referring to Grays, Reptilians , Nordics, and Insectoids as previously stated by physicist Eric Davis to Congress

An article about alien species from New York Post has been circulating on the internet today. Former Pentagon-linked UFO researchers claim the US recovered “4 alien species” from crashed UAPs — including classic species like “Grays,” “Nordics,” and “Reptilians.” Do you think this… pic.twitter.com/vNslZou5x8

That sentence alone probably caused about half the internet to start digging through old X-Files DVDs.
Puthoff is not some random guy posting blurry photos on Reddit at 2 a.m. wearing a tinfoil hat. He is a Stanford-trained quantum physicist who worked on CIA-funded remote viewing programs during the Cold War and later advised the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program, commonly known as AAWSAP. In other words, this is someone who has spent decades operating around classified military and intelligence circles.
Adding even more fuel to the fire, Puthoff’s longtime collaborator Dr. Eric Davis has reportedly identified the four alleged extraterrestrial species involved in these supposed recoveries. According to Davis, the species include Grays, Nordics, Reptilians, and Insectoids, sometimes called Mantids.
Yes, seriously.
The descriptions sound like something straight out of late-night cable television. Grays are described as the classic small beings with giant black eyes. Nordics supposedly resemble tall Northern Europeans. Reptilians are upright lizard-like creatures, while Mantids allegedly resemble giant praying mantises. Somewhere, ancient History Channel producers are probably pouring champagne right now.
What makes this story more interesting is that these claims are no longer isolated incidents. In 2023, former Air Force intelligence officer David Grusch testified under oath before Congress that the U.S. government possesses “non-human biologics” recovered from crash sites tied to a secret retrieval program. That testimony pushed the UFO debate from internet conspiracy forums directly into congressional hearings.
Now, none of this constitutes publicly verified proof of extraterrestrial life. That distinction matters. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and so far the public has mostly received stories, testimony, and classified whispers without hard evidence sitting on a table for independent analysis.
Still, it is remarkable how far the conversation has shifted. A decade ago, major media outlets treated UFO discussions like punchlines. Today former intelligence officials casually discuss alien species on mainstream podcasts while Congress holds hearings about unexplained aerial phenomena.
At minimum, Americans are left wondering exactly what the government knows, what it does not know, and why so many former insiders keep telling eerily similar stories. Because once Pentagon physicists start discussing “four separate types of life” with a straight face, people naturally start paying attention.
