President Trump had just delivered a major midterm message in Chillicothe, Ohio, when a disturbing scene reportedly unfolded outside the rally. Multiple on-scene videos and social media accounts described a supporter as apparently stabbed, with what appeared to be a knife lodged in the person’s back. Police officers were seen gathered around the injured person as the tense aftermath played out.
The rally took place Wednesday, October 28, at the Shoemaker Center on the Ohio University Chillicothe campus. The official campaign listing placed the event at 101 University Drive, with doors scheduled to open at 3:30 p.m., the program set for 5:30 p.m., and President Trump’s remarks scheduled for 7 p.m. Registration had closed, and the listing identified the Trump 47 Committee as the paying organization.
That location and timeline matter because the reported violence occurred outside the same campus venue while the rally was underway. President Trump spoke for more than 90 minutes, according to WHIO, six days before the midterm elections. The station reported that it was his third Ohio appearance of the month and that he was campaigning for Republican candidates in the state.
His address covered affordability, crime, taxes, voter identification requirements, and Second Amendment protections. Voters waiting outside the venue told WHIO that immigration was their leading concern. Those are not exactly obscure kitchen-table issues. Families are watching their budgets, communities want safety, taxpayers want accountability, and law-abiding citizens expect their constitutional rights to be respected.
Derek Myers posted an on-scene video Thursday showing police surrounding the injured person. The footage is graphic and deeply unsettling, but it shows the aftermath and the police response, not the identity of an attacker or the reason for the incident. A second post showed another angle from outside the rally and provided a separate contemporaneous account of what was described as a stabbing.
One post summarized the scene this way: “Stabbing at @POTUS rally in Chillicothe, #Ohio tonight!” That wording spread alongside the video, while other online commentary quickly began assigning a possible political motive. A prominent conservative response alleged that the incident was anti-Trump political violence and asked people to pray for the injured person. That allegation remains unverified.
At the time of the report, Chillicothe police had not publicly released the injured person’s condition, identified a suspect, announced charges, or confirmed a motive. There was also no official confirmation of the attacker’s identity. Those are not minor details. Viral footage can show a frightening aftermath, but it cannot act as a police report, a courtroom, and a motive detector all at once. The internet may try to speed-run that process, but investigators still need to establish what happened.
Violence outside a political event is unacceptable, regardless of who is involved or what motive is eventually established. Attendees and supporters deserve to attend a rally without becoming part of a crime scene. Until officials release more information, claims about responsibility or ideology should be treated as claims, not settled facts.
