U.S. Attorney Sounds Alarm on Shocking Scheme to Replace Fleeing Americans

Former California Assemblyman and current federal prosecutor Bill Essayli just said what millions of Americans have been thinking for years: there is a massive difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration, and the Left intentionally refuses to acknowledge it.

During a recent interview with PragerU, Essayli delivered a blunt takedown of California’s open-border political culture and the constant effort by Democrats to erase any distinction between immigrants who followed the law and those who did not.

For Essayli, this issue is personal.

His parents immigrated to the United States legally, studied for the citizenship exam, learned American civics, and worked hard to build a life. That process matters to him because it reflects respect for the country and the rule of law, two concepts that seem increasingly optional in Sacramento these days.

“I think one of the most offensive things, my parents are immigrants. They immigrated here lawfully,” Essayli explained. “They never mention the word illegal. They always say immigrant community.”

That distinction is at the center of the debate. Conservatives are not attacking legal immigrants who follow the rules and contribute to the country. Many Republican voters come from immigrant families themselves. What frustrates Americans is watching politicians deliberately blur the line between lawful immigration and illegal entry while showering taxpayer-funded benefits on people who ignored the system entirely.

Essayli argued that California’s leadership knows exactly what it is doing.

“The dirty little secret is they want the flow of illegal immigrants,” he said, pointing to political incentives tied to population counts, congressional representation, and the steady exodus of middle-class residents fleeing the state’s crushing taxes and endless regulations.

And honestly, it is difficult to argue with the results. California keeps losing residents to states like Texas and Florida, yet Sacramento politicians continue doubling down on policies that prioritize illegal immigrants over working citizens who are already struggling to afford housing, groceries, gas, and basic living expenses.

Essayli also highlighted one particularly outrageous example: California Assembly Bill 1840. The legislation would have expanded eligibility for the state’s Dream For All Shared Appreciation Loan Program to undocumented immigrants, potentially allowing illegal immigrants to receive taxpayer-backed down payment assistance for homes.

Yes, really.

At a time when countless American citizens cannot afford homes because of skyrocketing prices and interest rates, California lawmakers were seriously debating government-backed housing assistance for people who entered the country illegally. Somewhere in America, a young married couple working two jobs each probably read that headline and immediately considered moving to Tennessee.

Gov. Gavin Newsom ultimately vetoed the bill, but not because he opposed the idea itself. Newsom cited funding limitations, which is not exactly a profile in courage. It was less “this policy is insane” and more “we’re currently out of money.”

Essayli’s comments resonated because they cut through the carefully crafted political language that dominates immigration debates. Americans understand fairness. They understand legal processes. And they are growing tired of watching politicians treat law-abiding citizens like an afterthought while rewarding people who bypassed the system entirely.
